Open to all levels including absolute beginners. George has been instructing people in the art of flagging for several decades and can help anyone take their flagging to the next level. Bring at least one pair of flags (if you have one).

with DJ Andre Steffens
Open to all flow artists (including those who started flagging in the flagging lesson just before this event). Bring at least one pair of flags (if you have one). There will be a Facebook event announcement with additional details — search for “Flag Alley San Francisco”

Community Tie-Dye
Tie-Dye Class and Open Studio
Limited Space -RSVP is required. Email xavier.caylor@flagginginthepark.org for more info or to RSVP.
Intent: Bring together tie dye artists; replenish your flag bags; have fun. Open to any and all levels of tie-dye artists or people that want to just hang out.

Formal demonstration from 10 to Noon PM
Instructor monitoring Noon to 2:00 PM.
Open Studio — 2:00 to 4:00 PM ~ Location announced with RSVP
Irons, string, scissors, dye, paper towels, gloves and microwaves available.
Last silk handed out at (roughly) 3:15 PM (unconfirmed).

National AIDS Memorial Grove, Golden Gate Park
12:30 pm to 4:30 pm
Come enjoy the sun, music, flora, and friends in the beautiful National AIDS Memorial Grove. This event is open to all flow artists – fanning, flagging, poi, staff, hoopers and their supporters.
Flags are available for use or just relax, take in the fun dance music and colorful visuals. Bring a beverage, a lunch, something to sit on, and enjoy.

At the time of this page’s most recent publishing — April 20, 2024 — we are patiently waiting to receive Mr. Moran’s most current bio. What we can say is that he has been a DJ since 1981, and that his set will be phenomenal.
Our Beneficiary
National AIDS Memorial Grove is a dedicated space in the national landscape where millions of Americans touched directly or indirectly by AIDS can gather to heal, hope, and remember.
For all the promising prospects on the horizon, AIDS continues to invade our lives, violate our past, and rob us of our comfortable assumptions about the future. The sacred ground of this living memorial honors all who have confronted this tragic pandemic both those who have died and those who have shared their struggle, kept the vigils, and supported each other during the final hours.
SUNDAY, JULY 28th
Up Your Alley Street Fair
ROMP T-Dance: Mission to Tittikawka Island
11am to 6:00pm
On Dore Alley between Howard and Folsom, continuing on Folsom from 9th to Juniper and the adjoining block of 10th Street.
6pm to 1:00am
1015 Folsom. Flaggers get Access to a private Flagger + Performers lounge, with RSVP — and be sure to bring your flag bag! There will be some water and gatorade provided. The stage is open to flaggers ONLY for the first two hours, from 6pm – 8pm. After that we have blocks of time on stage interspersed with go gos and acts related to the theme. PLUS throughout the evening, just off our Flagger + Performers lounge, we have a blacklight alley just above the main stage, where up to three flaggers are able to flag at one time, all night long. There will be a flagging performance, likely based on some sort of bond-themed dance mix, or otherwise related to the night’s kinky-espionage-on-a-tropical-island theme.

Flagging In The Park is proud to become a Program of Grass Roots Gay Rights Foundation (GRGRF). GRGRF will continue offering a $2,000 matching grant for each of our 2024 events. Proving it takes a village, this event would not happen without the support of these partners: National AIDS Memorial Grove, Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence, Flagger Central, The Lookout, Ryan Clouse, and the many donors that fund us so every dollar collected in the Grove goes to our beneficiaries, and the many volunteers that help with set up and strike.
